XAT Exam Date 2027

XAT 2027 is on 3 January 2027. That's a day earlier than XAT 2026, which XLRI held on 4 January 2026.

Registration also opened later this cycle. It opened on 15 July 2026. Last year, it opened on 10 July 2025.

XLRI did not flag either change. It just published the new dates without saying what had shifted. So do not assume this cycle follows last year's calendar. Two things have already changed.

You have 85 days left to register. That's from 12 September 2026 to the 6 December 2026 deadline.

Registration is open right now. The exam itself is fixed for 3 January 2027. XLRI sets the admit card, answer key, result and counselling dates around this exam date.

XLRI Jamshedpur runs the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). It conducts the test for its own programmes and for the wider group of XAMI institutes that accept the score. Every date below comes from XAT's official pages at xatonline.in. We checked these on 12 September 2026.

The XAT 2027 exam is on Sunday, 3 January 2027, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Registration opened on 15 July 2026 and closes on 6 December 2026. The admit card is expected on 20 December 2026. XLRI calls this date tentative.

Only three of these seven milestones carry a confirmed date today. That's normal at this stage of the cycle.

XAT 2027: Important Dates, Eligibility, Pattern & Colleges Accepting XAT Score

XAT 2027 registration opened on 15 July 2026 and runs till 6 December 2026. That's a window of about five months. Most MBA entrance exams give you less time than this.

The base application fee is Rs 2,300. XAT registration page says each XLRI programme preference adds Rs 200 more.

Indian candidates applying to the PGDM (GM) programme through a GMAT or GRE score pay Rs 2,600 instead. NRI, foreign, PIO or OCI candidates applying via GMAT pay Rs 5,000.

Is there a correction window for the XAT 2027 application form?

XAT does not offer a fixed correction window. Its official website says once you submit the form and pay the fee, you cannot edit any details.

There is one exception. If there's a genuine problem with your uploaded photo or signature, you can flag it through the dashboard's query option and get it fixed. Everything else has to be right the first time. Check every field before you submit.

The XAT 2027 admit card is due on 20 December 2026. XLRI labels this date tentative on its own official website. Download it the same day it's out. It carries your exam centre and reporting time.

Is the XAT 2027 admit card date confirmed or tentative?

Tentative, as of 12 September 2026. Past dates have landed close, but not always exactly on time. XAT 2026's admit card came out around 20 December 2025. XAT 2025's came out from 20 December 2024 onward. XAT 2024's slipped to 27 December 2023, a week later than its own originally announced 20 December date.

XLRI calls the date tentative, and past cycles show why. The word has sometimes meant a delay of about a week, not just a label. Still, mid-to-late December has held for four cycles in a row. 20 December 2026 is a reasonable date to plan around, but leave room for a short slip. XAT has not announced an answer key date, as of 12 September 2026. This is expected since the exam is still months away. XAT's official website does not mention this step at all.

Does XAT release an official answer key?

Yes, XAT does release an answer key. XLRI released a provisional answer key for both the XAT 2025 and XAT 2026 cycles. Each time, it sat behind the candidate's own login on xatonline.in, not on a public page. An objection window followed, then a final key. XAT 2026's exam was on 4 January 2026. Its provisional key came four days later, on 8 January.

If XAT 2027 follows the same pattern, expect the provisional key in the first or second week of January 2027. It will be inside your candidate login, not on a public page. See the XAT 2027 answer key guide for the full process once it's out.

XAT's own official website says the result comes roughly three weeks after the exam. It does not name an exact date yet. For an exam on 3 January 2027, that points to late January 2027. Treat it as XLRI's estimate, not a locked date.

How soon after the exam does XAT declare the result?

XAT's official website estimates roughly three weeks. But the last two cycles both beat that estimate. XAT 2026's exam was on 4 January 2026, and the result came out on 16 January, a 12-day gap. XAT 2025 was similar. Its exam was on 5 January 2025, and the result came on 17 January, also 12 days later.

XAT does not run one common counselling calendar. Some other national exams do this, but XAT hands the job to each institute instead. Every XAMI member institute that accepts your score sets its own shortlisting and admission timeline. This includes XLRI. The schedule only comes together after the result is out.

Does XAT conduct a common GD-PI process for all institutes?

No. Each institute checks your score against its own cutoff. This follows XAT's eligibility and admission guidance. Each institute also runs its own rounds. This could be a group discussion, a writing test, a personal interview, or some mix of the three.

XLRI publishes its own schedule once results are out. So does every other participating institute. Check the specific institute's website directly. Do not expect one shared date here.
