JEE Main previous year question papers are real papers set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in past exam sessions. This page is a direct download hub — every link below goes to the official NTA-hosted PDF, not a third-party copy. Each one was checked and confirmed working before being added here.
JEE Main 2027 papers not released yet
As of September 2026NTA has not conducted JEE Main 2027 yet, so no 2027 question paper exists. The most recent complete set of official papers is from JEE Main 2026. Use those to practise for 2027 until NTA opens the 2027 cycle.

NTA publishes the JEE Main question paper for every shift after the exam is complete, along with a separate provisional and then final answer key. Both are hosted on the official JEE Main website and stay there for that year's cycle.
Nine shift-wise question papers from JEE Main 2026 Session 2 (April) are confirmed available for direct download on this page, along with the final answer key for both Session 1 and Session 2.

NTA has not published individual Session 1 (21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2026) question papers as separate PDFs on the official portal the way it did for Session 2. The Session 1 final answer key is available below and does list every question with its correct option, which is usable for self-checking even without the separate question paper PDF. Check the official JEE Main question papers section directly for the latest position, since NTA can add these at any time.
NTA's official portal does not currently carry a separate question paper PDF for the 7 April 2026 shifts or for the 8 April 2026 Shift 1 exam. Only the nine papers listed above were confirmed live on the official site at the time of this update.
No. NTA publishes the question paper and, separately, an official answer key with the correct option for each question. It does not publish step-by-step worked solutions. Full explained solutions are usually put together by coaching institutes, not by NTA.
The official final answer key is the authoritative source for checking whether your answer was correct. Each answer key below covers every date and shift in that session in a single PDF.

JEE Main 2026 is the most recent completed exam with an official NTA answer key. Session 2 (April 2026) has both the question papers and the final answer key available above. Session 1 (January 2026) has the final answer key available, with the question papers themselves not yet separately published by NTA.
Use JEE Main 2026 as your primary practice set for JEE Main 2027 preparation, since it is the closest match to the pattern, difficulty and syllabus you are likely to face. Once NTA changes anything for 2027, this page will reflect it.
JEE Main runs on multiple dates and, on most dates, in two shifts (morning and afternoon) because lakhs of candidates cannot sit the exam in a single sitting. Each shift gets a different question paper, built to the same syllabus, pattern and difficulty level so that no shift has an unfair advantage.
NTA applies a normalisation formula to convert your raw shift score to an NTA Score (percentile), specifically so that scores across different shifts can be compared fairly. This is why your percentile, not your raw marks, decides your rank.
The nine JEE Main 2026 Session 2 shift papers confirmed available are listed in the table below for quick reference. Full download links are in the cards further up this page.

Solve as many different shifts as you reasonably can, not just one. Because each shift has its own paper, solving only one shift gives you practice on only one specific mix of easy, moderate and tough questions. Working through multiple shifts exposes you to a wider range of question types and difficulty combinations.
No. A previous year question paper is a real paper that NTA used in an actual exam. A sample paper is a newly written paper meant to follow the same pattern, created by a coaching institute or publisher, not by NTA. NTA has not published a separate "sample paper" for JEE Main 2027 as of September 2026, since it has not yet released the 2027 information bulletin or pattern.
Until NTA releases 2027-specific material, treat the nine JEE Main 2026 papers above as your working sample set, since they carry the real pattern, real difficulty and real time pressure that a written-for-practice sample paper cannot fully copy.
A previous year paper shows you the real question style, real difficulty and real time pressure of JEE Main, none of which a textbook chapter can show on its own.
There is no single number that works for everyone. As a working guide, solve every available shift from the most recent year first, since that is closest to the current pattern, then go back to earlier years as time allows. Nine full papers, as listed on this page, is a solid starting target for JEE Main 2026 alone.
Solve the paper exactly like the real exam: 3 hours, no notes, no phone, no pausing. Solving it casually across several days removes the time pressure that is the whole point of practising with a real paper.
Sit for the full 3-hour duration in one sitting, the same as the actual JEE Main Paper 1 slot.
Do not check your notes, textbook or the internet while attempting. This is the only way the score reflects your real preparation.
Use the official final answer key to mark each question right, wrong or unattempted.
For each wrong answer, note whether it was a concept gap, a careless calculation error, or a question you understood but ran out of time for.
Go back to the specific topic for every concept gap and revise it properly before you attempt your next paper.
Keep a simple log of your score, subject-wise accuracy and time taken per paper, so you can see whether you are actually improving.
Checking the answer key immediately after getting stuck on a question, instead of attempting it fully first. This turns practice into a reading exercise instead of a test of your own preparation, and it hides how much time you actually need per question in a real exam.
