The Academics Section runs the IIT Delhi scholarship schemes and processes most donor awards on the ERP portal. Find your situation in the table first. The donor awards are for undergraduates. The IIT Delhi scholarship rules for PG and Ph.D. students differ, and the next section covers them. Set each waiver against the B.Tech tuition of Rs 1,00,000 a semester.
Yes. IIT Delhi gives scholarships and other financial aid to undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. students. The IIT Delhi scholarship schemes include the MCM, merit prizes, tuition waivers and donor awards. Ph.D. students get an assistantship instead. The income-based IIT Delhi scholarship 2027 schemes ask for fresh income proof every year.
IIT Delhi offers six types of scholarship, and each one covers a different group of students. The accordion shows what each scheme gives. These IIT Delhi scholarship details are from the prospectus, and the eligibility rules are in the next section.
A tuition waiver plus a monthly cash amount for General, OBC and EWS students. It covers B.Tech and Dual Degree students, and M.A., M.Sc. and M.P.P. students. You keep it each year if your SGPA and CGPA stay at 6.0 or above.
This IIT Delhi merit scholarship goes to the top 7% of each 4-year B.Tech and 5-year Dual Degree programme. It runs every semester. The prize is Rs 2,500 a semester, up to the 8th or 10th semester.
A tuition waiver for 10% of students, given on means alone. IIT Delhi runs it only if more than 25% of students are eligible for the MCM.
Every SC, ST and PwD student gets a tuition exemption at any family income. SC and ST students also get free messing and a pocket allowance of Rs 1,000 a month. The messing covers the basic menu charges.
Alumni, individuals, trusts and companies fund these. The booklet lists 125 awards, from Rs 22,500 to Rs 2,75,000 each. Most are Rs 25,000 or Rs 1,00,000.
M.Tech, M.S.(R) and M.Des students get assistance as per Government of India guidelines, in return for teaching or research support. Full-time Ph.D. students get a teaching or research assistantship. PMRF fellowships come through a central process across the IITs and IISc.
The institute also runs fellowships for other groups, outside the main IIT Delhi scholarship schemes. The International Ph.D. Fellowship Programme pays foreign Ph.D. students at par with Indian students. A limited number of international M.Tech, M.Des and M.S.(R) students get an international masters scholarship. UG students from other institutes can apply for the Summer Research Fellowship.
The main IIT Delhi scholarship amount is Rs 4,000 a month plus a tuition waiver, under the MCM. For a B.Tech student the waiver is worth Rs 2,00,000 a year, at Rs 1,00,000 a semester. The waiver does not cover hostel rent, mess charges or other institute fees. You need to upload income proof on ERP each year to keep the payment.
Yes. M.Tech, M.S.(R) and M.Des students get financial assistance as per Government of India guidelines. Ph.D. students admitted full time get a teaching or research assistantship. The prospectus does not print the monthly amount, so ask your department for the current figure.
IIT Delhi scholarship eligibility depends on your category, your family income and your marks. The income limit for the MCM and for free messing is Rs 8 lakh a year. Category alone decides the tuition exemption. The table lists each scheme and the rule that applies.
| Scholarship | Who qualifies | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| MCM | General, OBC and EWS | Income up to Rs 8 lakh, SGPA and CGPA of 6.0 |
| Tuition exemption | SC, ST and PwD | None, any income |
| Free messing and Rs 1,000 | SC and ST | Income below Rs 8 lakh, for a fixed period |
| Free Studentship | Any category | Means only, if MCM demand is above 25% |
| Merit prize | Top 7% of the programme | Each semester, B.Tech and Dual Degree |
The free messing period depends on your programme. Ask the Academics Section how long it runs for your course.
IIT Delhi scholarship eligibility for the MCM is simple. You are General, OBC or EWS, with family income up to Rs 8 lakh. About 25% of students receive it, so meeting the income limit does not guarantee a place. A semester with SGPA or CGPA below 6.0 can put the award at risk.
Yes, in some cases. Many donor awards under the IIT Delhi scholarship schemes are for middle-income families. The income range is Rs 5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, and you must pay the full tuition. The S M Shah and DB Corp awards are examples. Others pick students by JEE Advanced rank or by CGPA.
Yes. OBC students with family income up to Rs 8 lakh can get the IIT Delhi MCM scholarship, like General and EWS students. OBC students do not get the SC and ST tuition exemption.
You do not fill a separate form for most IIT Delhi scholarships. The IIT Delhi scholarship 2027 process starts when you declare your parental income on the ERP portal and upload proof. The Academics Section then approves your income and matches you to the schemes you qualify for.

IIT Delhi announces the MCM and free messing scholarships at the time of admission. Donor awards follow the donor's criteria and are mostly auto-processed after you upload income proof. The Development Office confirms fund availability, and the Account Section releases the money.
You need valid family income proof to claim any scheme that depends on income. Upload it on ERP every year.
For the National Scholarship Portal, keep your marksheets and academic fee slip ready.
National Scholarship Portal Rejects Some Files
The portal rejects screenshots and photocopies. It also rejects last year's OBC, EWS or income certificate.
IIT Delhi accepts an income certificate from a Magistrate, Tehsildar or Revenue Officer. It also accepts Form 16, the latest return, Form 26AS or a BPL card. Use proof for the previous financial year. These documents come from the Academics FAQ page, so confirm them with the Scholarship Unit.
No IIT Delhi scholarship needs a written test or an interview. Pick the tab for your scheme.
The Academics Section selects students from the income and category records on ERP. Meeting the rules does not guarantee an award, because the MCM covers only about 25% of students.
Yes. This IIT Delhi merit scholarship needs SGPA and CGPA of 6.0 to continue. The Academics FAQ page says it may be suspended until your grades improve. Donor awards set higher bars, such as a CGPA of 7.0, 7.5 or 8.0, and some also check your income each year.
IIT Delhi publishes no head count for each scholarship, but NIRF 2026 data shows how many students get tuition support. The institute reported 1,458 of 4,388 four-year UG students with full tuition reimbursement from institute funds. That is about 33%. The sheet does not split the count by scheme.
| Programme | Students | Full reimbursement from institute funds |
|---|---|---|
| UG, four years | 4,388 | 1,458 |
| UG, five years | 614 | 168 |
| PG, two years | 2,329 | 546 |
Private bodies funded the full tuition of 17 four-year UG students. State or Central Government schemes did so for 20 of them.
The booklet lists these among its largest donor awards. Each award has one amount in the booklet.
| Donor award | Amount | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|
| Cookson India | Rs 2,75,000 | Third-year women, Energy Science and Engineering, income Rs 5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh |
| Amit and Deepali Sinha Foundation | Rs 2,75,000 | Five first-year students by JEE Advanced rank |
| S M Shah | Rs 2,00,000 | Highest JEE Advanced rank, income Rs 5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh |
| Budhwanti Mrig Memorial | Rs 1,00,000 | Two first-year women, income Rs 5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh |
Smaller awards suit lower incomes. The Bina Dewan Singh award is Rs 25,000 for one first-year student with income up to Rs 6 lakh. Women in Mechanical Engineering come first. The G.S. Bhasin award is Rs 22,500 for a Chemical Engineering student, and the Gobind H. Keswani award is Rs 25,000. Both need income up to Rs 5 lakh. Both renew at an SGPA of 7.0.
The biggest IIT Delhi scholarship in the donor booklet is Rs 2,75,000. Two awards pay that amount, the Cookson India award and the Amit and Deepali Sinha Foundation award. Both renew only if you keep a minimum CGPA. Check these IIT Delhi scholarship details 2026 before you accept.
The institute does not publish a count of IIT Delhi scholarship recipients. The MCM covers about 25% of students. The NIRF sheet shows 1,458 four-year UG students with full tuition reimbursement from institute funds, and 546 in the two-year PG programmes.
Yes. The Amit and Deepali Sinha Foundation award of Rs 2,75,000 goes to five first-year students by JEE Advanced rank. The S M Shah award of Rs 2,00,000 goes to the top JEE Advanced rank. It needs income of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.
