Is There an Official JEE Advanced Marks vs Rank List for 2026?
Not yet, as far as we could check on 4 October 2026. The 2026 result press release (1 June 2026) gives the topper's marks, the number of qualified candidates and the minimum qualifying marks. It does not give a full JEE Advanced marks vs rank list. The 2025 report is the latest full JEE Advanced marks vs rank list we could find.
Search for marks vs rank JEE Advanced 2026 and you will find many tables. Unless the numbers come from the exam body's own report, they are estimates. This page keeps the two apart, so your JEE Advanced marks vs rank check rests on official numbers only. Every 2026 number below is from the , and every marks-to-rank number is from the .
JEE Advanced 2026 result declared
1 June 2026The exam was held on 17 May 2026. Out of 1,79,694 candidates who appeared in both papers, 56,880 qualified.
Read the official press releaseHere is how the basics compare before we get to the JEE Advanced marks vs rank numbers.
| What the exam body published | 2026 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Registered candidates | 1,87,389 | 1,87,223 |
| Appeared | 1,79,694 (both papers) | 1,80,422 |
| Qualified candidates | 56,880 | 54,378 |
| Marks of common rank 1 | 330 out of 360 | 332 out of 360 |
Qualifying comes first. You get a rank only if you clear the minimum marks for your list. These are the 2026 minimums from the press release.
| Rank list | Minimum marks in each subject | Minimum aggregate (out of 360) |
|---|---|---|
| Common Rank List (CRL) | 8 | 92 |
| OBC-NCL and GEN-EWS | 7 | 82 |
| SC, ST and all PwD lists | 4 | 46 |
| Preparatory Course list | 2 | 23 |
Those are the 2026 gates. What does a mark above the gate turn into? For that, we need the 2025 table.
JEE Advanced Marks vs Rank Table: Common Rank List (Official 2025)
This is the latest official JEE Advanced marks vs rank table, from the 2025 report. Read each row of this JEE Advanced marks vs rank table as "the marks of the candidate who stood at that rank". A rank between two rows falls between their marks. The last column is our own arithmetic, to show how little of the paper high ranks need.
| Common rank (CRL) | Marks scored out of 360 | Share of full marks (our sums) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 332 | 92% – rank 1 score |
| 101 | 278 | 77% – about three-fourths of the paper |
| 201 | 262 | 73% – nearly three-fourths of the paper |
| 501 | 234 | 65% – about two-thirds of the paper |
| 1,001 | 208 | 58% – a little over half the paper |
| 2,001 | 181 | 50% – about half the paper |
| 3,001 | 165 | 46% – under half the paper |
| 5,001 | 145 | 40% – about two-fifths of the paper |
| 7,501 | 130 | 36% – a little over one-third of the paper |
| 10,001 | 120 | 33% – one-third of the paper |
| 15,001 | 104 | 29% – under three-tenths of the paper |
| 20,001 | 94 | 26% – about one-fourth of the paper |
| 30,001 | 78 | 22% – under one-fourth of the paper |
Use this JEE Advanced marks vs rank table as a guide, not a promise. The same marks can give a better or worse rank in a different year. Three questions come up again and again, so here are the answers.
What Rank Is 200 Marks in JEE Advanced?
About rank 1,200 to 1,400 in the common rank list. That is what the 2025 JEE Advanced marks vs rank table gives for 200 marks, if the paper is like 2025's (our sums). In 2025, rank 1,001 had 208 marks and rank 2,001 had 181 marks. So 200 marks sits just below rank 1,001. In a harder year the same 200 marks would give a better rank. In an easier year it would give a worse one.
What Rank Is 150 Marks in JEE Advanced?
About rank 4,300 to 4,700 in the common rank list, on the 2025 JEE Advanced marks vs rank numbers (our sums). Rank 3,001 had 165 marks and rank 5,001 had 145 marks, so 150 marks is close to the 5,001 mark. That is well inside the pool of 54,378 qualified candidates. Whether it gives an IIT seat depends on your category and branch, which we cover below.
What Rank Is 75 Marks in JEE Advanced?
In JEE Advanced marks vs rank terms, 75 marks gets no common rank at all in 2026, because the minimum aggregate for the common rank list is 92. In 2025 the last candidate on that list had 74 marks, so 75 marks was about rank 32,500 to 33,500 (our sums). The reserved lists have lower bars in 2026. SC, ST and PwD candidates need 46 marks, so 75 marks can still earn them a category rank. OBC-NCL and GEN-EWS candidates need 82, so 75 does not qualify.
Why Do Two Students With the Same Marks Get Different Ranks?
Because the rank list breaks ties, and every JEE Advanced rank vs marks table hides this. The says ties are broken by positive marks first, then Maths marks, then Physics marks. So two students on 150 marks can sit a few places apart. Only if they are still tied after all three steps do they get the same rank.
So far we have only used the common list. What changes if you are in a reserved category?
JEE Advanced Marks vs Rank OBC, EWS, SC and ST (Official 2025)
JEE Advanced marks vs rank OBC is a separate list from the common one. Your category rank counts only students of your own category, so it is a smaller number than your common rank for the same marks. The marks vs rank JEE Advanced picture therefore changes with your category. For example, in 2025 OBC-NCL rank 1,001 had 144 marks. In the common list, 144 marks was around rank 5,200 (our sums).
Pick your category below. These JEE Advanced marks vs rank tables use the 2025 report. The first two columns are from the 2025 report. The last column is our arithmetic, so you can see where the same marks would sit in the common list.
| Category rank | Marks scored (2025) | Nearest common rank for the same marks (our sums) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 310 | About 40 |
| 101 | 225 | About 650 to 700 |
| 301 | 188 | About 1,750 |
| 501 | 169 | About 2,750 |
| 1,001 | 144 | About 5,200 |
| 2,001 | 124 | About 9,000 |
| 3,001 | 111 | About 12,800 |
| 4,001 | 102 | About 16,000 |
| 5,001 | 96 | About 19,000 |
| 6,001 | 90 | About 22,500 |
| 8,001 | 80 | About 28,800 |
| 10,001 | 73 | None (below the common-list bar) |
What "none" means in the last column
In the 2025 JEE Advanced marks vs rank data, the last candidate on the common list had 74 marks. A candidate below that score has only a category rank, not a common rank. That is why a JEE Advanced marks vs rank OBC search can show a rank with no common-list match.
Why do both ranks matter? The JoSAA business rules for 2026 say open seats are filled using the common rank list, and reserved seats using the category rank list. A reserved-category candidate is considered for open seats first, and then for the reserved seats. So an OBC-NCL student reading the JEE Advanced marks vs rank OBC table should also check the common rank. Marks above the common-list bar give two chances, one with each rank.
The numbers you have now come from 2025. Will your 2026 score follow the same pattern?
Why Does the Same Score Give a Different Rank Every Year?
Because rank counts people, not marks. When a paper is hard, fewer students reach high marks, so the same marks give a better rank. When a paper is easy, many students bunch up at high marks and the same score slips down the list. That is why an advanced marks vs rank chart is only as good as its year. Every JEE Advanced marks vs rank table belongs to one paper.
The official numbers show the bar moving. In 2025, the last candidate on the common list scored 74. In 2026, the minimum to get on that list is 92. The two numbers are not the same measure, but both show that the bar is reset every year. The number of qualified candidates also moved, from 54,378 to 56,880 (2,502 more, our sums).
Here is a simple way to use the 2025 JEE Advanced marks vs rank table for your own score:
- Find your category's table above and locate the two rows on either side of your marks.
- Read off the ranks for those two rows and treat your rank as a range between them.
- Wait for the official 2026 report before you treat any JEE Advanced marks vs rank number as final. Until then, read marks vs rank JEE Advanced figures from older years as a range.
A rank is only half the story, though. What does it get you at an IIT?
What Rank Do You Need for an IIT? Your JEE Advanced Admission Chances
No single rank decides it, and no JEE Advanced marks vs rank table can say otherwise. Your seat depends on your rank type, the IIT, the branch and the round. The numbers are tight. In 2025 there were 18,160 IIT seats, including 3,632 female-only seats, for 54,378 qualified candidates. That is about one seat for every three qualified candidates (our sums). Qualifying gets you into counselling, and it does not promise a seat. JEE Advanced marks vs rank tells you where you stand. The IIT closing ranks tell you what that is worth.
| What decides your IIT seat | How it works | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Rank type | Open seats use the common rank. Reserved seats use the category rank. | JoSAA business rules 2026 |
| Gender pool | Women compete first for female-only seats, and then for gender-neutral seats. | JoSAA business rules 2026 |
| Institute and branch | Every IIT and branch has its own closing rank. | JoSAA opening and closing ranks |
| Round | The closing rank changes from round to round. | JoSAA opening and closing ranks |
| Class XII marks | At least 75% (65% for SC, ST and PwD) or a place in your board's top 20 percentile. | JEE Advanced 2026 brochure |
The Class XII row catches students out. A good rank does not help if you miss that bar. Now to the question we see most in JEE Advanced marks vs rank searches.
Can I Get an IIT With a 20,000 Rank in JEE Advanced?
In the open category it is very unlikely. In 2025 there were only 18,160 IIT seats in total, and some of them are female-only or reserved. A common rank of 20,000 means 19,999 candidates stand ahead of you, as in any JEE Advanced rank vs marks list.
A reserved-category student in the same position is in a different spot. In 2025, 94 marks gave common rank 20,001. The same 94 marks gave a much better rank in each category list (our sums). The JEE Advanced marks vs rank OBC, EWS, SC and ST lists tell a very different story.
| Rank list | Rank for about 94 marks (2025, our sums) | Where we read it from |
|---|---|---|
| OBC-NCL | About 5,300 | Between rank 5,001 (96 marks) and 6,001 (90 marks) |
| GEN-EWS | About 2,800 | Between rank 2,001 (104 marks) and 3,001 (91 marks) |
| SC | About 600 | Between rank 501 (98 marks) and 1,001 (79 marks) |
| ST | About 230 | Between rank 101 (107 marks) and 501 (66 marks) |
Whether that is enough depends on the closing ranks of your category. We do not quote them here, because they change by branch and round. How do you look them up?
How to Check Your Real IIT Chance Using Your JEE Advanced Rank
Start from your JEE Advanced marks vs rank result. Then use the opening and closing ranks that JoSAA publishes after each round. A closing rank is the rank of the last student who got that seat in that round. Compare your rank with it, and you see which IITs and branches were in reach last year.
- Open the JoSAA website, josaa.nic.in, and go to the opening and closing ranks section.
- Pick the latest year and the last round, since that round shows the lowest rank that got a seat.
- Choose IIT as the institute type, then your seat type (OPEN, OBC-NCL, GEN-EWS, SC or ST) and your gender pool.
- Compare your rank with the closing rank for each IIT and branch you like. Sort them into safe, possible and stretch choices.
- Add a back-up list, because JoSAA 2026 covered 138 institutes, not only the 23 IITs.
Do not treat last year's closing rank, or any JEE Advanced marks vs rank estimate, as a promise. It moves with the paper, the seat count and how many students choose each branch. Think of it as the nearest evidence you have.
You may be asking one more thing, especially if you are preparing for the next attempt.
How Many Marks Should You Aim For in JEE Advanced 2027?
For marks vs rank JEE Advanced planning, aim for the rank you want, then read the marks off the latest JEE Advanced marks vs rank table, and add a safety margin. On 2025 numbers, about 58% of the paper (208 marks) gave a rank near 1,000. About 33% (120 marks) gave a rank near 10,000. You do not need to solve most of the paper to land in the top few thousand. A JEE Advanced rank vs marks table is a good way to set that target.
Keep three rules in mind. The rank for any marks changes every year, so a 2025 JEE Advanced marks vs rank table is a guide for 2027, not a forecast. The exam allows two attempts in consecutive years, as per the 2026 brochure, so check the 2027 brochure for your own limit. And your Class XII result must meet the bar in the table above.
If your target rank is short of an IIT, JEE Main opens other doors. JEE Advanced gates only the IITs, and the NITs take students on their JEE Main rank. Check where each route leads.
